To protect the company's reputation and compliance status, we adhere strictly to the ICH-GCP (Good Clinical Practice) guidelines. The foundation of our data policy is ALCOA+.

You don't need to memorize the regulation numbers, but you must live by these principles:

A - Attributable: We must know who created the data. (Never share passwords or sign for someone else).
L - Legible: The data must be readable.
C - Contemporaneous: The data must be recorded at the time the activity happened. (No "back-dating" allowed).
O - Original: The first record is the source of truth.
A - Accurate: The data must be error-free and honest.
(+) Plus: Complete, Consistent, Enduring, and Available.

The Company’s Stance:If data does not meet these standards, it cannot be used. "Bad data" is worse than "no data" because it creates a false reality.

2. The Human Reality in Handling Pressure

Here is where we get real. We know you are human.

There will be days when a Sponsor is demanding a database lock by 5:00 PM. There will be days when you are jet-lagged, tired, or overwhelmed. There will be moments when you realize you forgot to sign a log yesterday.

The Empathic Policy:We do not expect you to be a robot. We expect you to be honest.

The Trap: You forgot to date a form yesterday. You feel pressure to write yesterday's date today so it "looks right."
The Solution: You date it today and add a note explaining the delay.

Key Takeaway:A mistake (like forgetting a date) is a training issue, we can fix that. A falsification (back-dating) is an integrity issue, we cannot fix that. We will always support you if you make an honest error and report it. We cannot support you if you cover it up.

3. How to Correct Errors (The "Safe" Way)

Our policy is designed to protect you from accusations of fraud. When you make a correction on paper or in a system:

Do not obliterate: Never use white-out, heavy scribbling, or delete digital audit trails. The original entry must remain visible.
Single Line Strike-through: Draw a single line through the error.
Initial and Date: Sign your work.
Reason for Change: Briefly explain why (e.g., "Entry Error" or "Clarification").

Why do we do this?It proves you have nothing to hide. It protects your professional reputation as a scientist.

4. Scenario Check

Imagine this situation:

You are a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) at a site in Europe. The study coordinator hands you a stack of patient diaries that were obviously filled out all at once, just before your visit, rather than daily by the patient. The ink is the same; the handwriting is identical; there are no variations.

The "Company Interest" Approach:Accepting this data would be a violation of the protocol and would compromise the study results.

The "Caring" Action:You might feel bad for the coordinator who is overworked. But true caring means protecting the study. You must flag this immediately.

Do not: Ignore it to be "nice."
Do: Calmly document the issue and escalate it to your Project Manager. You are not "getting them in trouble"; you are saving the study from failure.

5. Your "Right to Pause"

Because we care about the quality of your work, we grant every employee the Right to Pause.

If a client, a manager, or a colleague asks you to do something that feels "off"—like rushing a quality check or ignoring a missing signature—you have the policy-backed right to say:

"I need to pause and check this against our Data Integrity Policy. I want to make sure we are protecting the company and the patient."

No one will be penalized for using the Right to Pause.
